Charley Hoffman got chocolate all over his golf clubs at the Texas Open
Charley Hoffman had a pretty good day on the course on Thursday as he shot a 1-under 71 to open his title defense at the Valero Texas Open. That left him five off the lead set by Branden Grace. He did put himself in a, ahem, sticky situation at one point, though.
Hoffman’s caddie had to empty his bag and clean his clubs as a leftover Easter chocolate egg had melted and gotten all over his sticks.
“Guess the Easter bunny hid a little chocolate in my bag,” Hoffman said after the round. “I had some residue on my club and I smelled it and it was definitely a Hershey’s Egg … Reese’s Egg.”
It didn’t keep Hoffman from making three, um, sweet birdies on Thursday and getting back in the, uh, hunt in San Antonio.
